WHY I SET UP THE PERRY POWER FOUNDATION

This year, I set up the Perry Power Foundation and over the past few months, many people have asked me why so I thought I would quickly explain (click here to check out and like the facebook page)

To understand why I set it up, you need to understand why I set up powerbespoke (my estate agency) & perrypower.co.uk (the free and impartial advice website for property sellers). Put quite simply, it was/is to give people the ultimate experience when moving house and to improve peoples lives (mine, my sons, my clients, my families, my teams and so on) so setting up the foundation was my small way of further doing that, by giving back, both with time & money, to people less fortunate than me and/or people who would benefit from what I have to say.

I guess the seeds were planted for the foundation back in 2009 (before I owned an estate agency) when my son was born. Overnight I went from a selfish 22 year old high achieving estate agent who thought the only important things in life were money, fast cars, designer clothes and partying to a DAD with responsibilities! (ok, so I still party sometimes… give me a break, I’m still only 27 haha). My whole life perspective changed. As Bailey-Rae got older (he’s now 5) I started sounding like my grandparents saying things like ‘what is this world coming to’ when teenagers are more interested in watching TOWIE and Big Brother than watching a documentary on how Alan Sugar or Charlie Mullins built their empires from scratch.

Then, in 2013 (almost 4 years after I opened my estate agency) I was asked by various secondary schools to visit and give a motivation talk to the students about what I had achieved since leaving school (you can watch one of the talks here). I was asked to give up my time in the hope it would motivate & help the students (and by all accounts, it did). It felt AMAZING and I wanted to do more of it. I felt as if I could stop sounding like my grandparents and start actually doing something about ‘the worlds problems’.

The mission is very simple… ‘To empower people, who need a little helping hand, to achieve greatness’ and the promise is to never ask for your money, but we may ask for your time. The money comes from my company, Perry Power Limited. Time is the most precious thing in the world and the most valuable thing you can donate.

It’s my belief that every profit making business has an obligation to give back to the community from which it makes that profit so at the end of each year, the monetary donation I make to the foundation is directly linked to my company turnover during that year. The more clients we help, the more money we make, the more we donate… simple.

I’m immensely proud that this year, thanks to my team, our amazing clients and past clients who have recommended us to their friends & family, we have raised £1,034.91 for the foundation and I gave 7 motivational talks to over 2000 students.

So that’s it really… in the coming years I am looking forward to doing more and giving more.

I wish you and your family an incredible Christmas & New Year.

All the best,

Perry Power
